Shadow of the Snake God

Speaking of courting snake gods, Tsudzura-chan told me the Ninuriya story just this morning.

Tsudzura: Does it worry you?

Kei: It does. A lot.

Sakuya-san says I must’ve been mistaking a dream for reality, but I really believe that it happened.
Thanks to a stroke of luck last night, that person from my dream and Obana-chan came to help, but I can’t say it’ll go that way if it happens again.
If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. Just asking for info is free, and there might be a weakness passed down in the legends.

Kei: About that story, are there any details that you can tell me, regarding that snake god?

Station worker: Let’s see—— I wonder…

After a moment of pondering, the Ekiin-san gives a clap of his hands.

Kei: Is there something you found out?

Station worker: I’m not in the know, myself, but I do think I know a place where you can find out more.

Hostess: I don’t suppose you mean… the Regional History Museum?

Station worker: Yep. If I remember right, you had some tourist leaflets around here somewhere, right?

Station worker: That leaflet has a map on it, so if you’re interested, you should try there.

Hostess: But, that museum was……

A worried expression crosses her face as the hostess-san’s words falter. Faced with such an attitude, a coward like me can’t help but worry.

Kei: ……Is there something wrong with the museum?

My head nods at a gulp as I fearfully ask.

Hostess: I heard just recently that a burglar broke inside there.

Kei: A burglar…… was it?

Station worker: Sometime between two nights ago and yesterday morning—— if I’m right. It was just one item stolen from an exhibit, so it’s nothing to worry about.

Kei: I suppose so. I’ll bet the culprit has run far away by now, so there shouldn’t be anything dangerous, right?

Hostess: But, really, it’s been so dangerous these days……

Station worker: ……Hm.

Station worker: Well, ladies, the light in these parts is sparse compared to the city, so keep your wits about you when walking the roads at night.

Kei: Thank you very much.

Tsudzura: Ah, Kei-oneesan, Sakuya-san just came out.

Sakuya: Iya~ that was some fine water.

In the traditional restaurant the Ekiin-san recommended, Sakuya-san was enraptured.
Leaning back in her chair, she gives her protruding belly, stuffed full of food, a good slap.

Sakuya: Now this is what you call food! I can feel the power brimming outta my belly!

It’s true that this first warm meal in a while (?) gave me a different feeling of satisfaction when it entered my stomach.

Sakuya: How about you, Tsudzura?

Tsudzura: I have indeed eaten to my fill~

Sakuya: Alright. Now that we’ve come out to town, is there any place you wanna stop by after this?

Tsudzura: I wonder~ Onee-san, what do you think?

Kei: Think… about what?

Tsudzura: The Regional History Museum. Should we go?

別にそこまでしなくても じゃあ行こうか
We don’t have to go out of our way. Well, let’s go, then.
